3rd Banstead Summer Scout Camp 2019

Date: 27th Aug 2019 Author: Adam Buckell

This year our summer Scout Camp for both Scout Troops was held at Downe Scout Activity Centre and Campsite.

The Camp held over the bank holiday weekend at the end of August was one of the hottest in recent years and required the addition of plenty of ice creams to keep cool!

The Scouts worked in small patrols to setup their campsites, prepare their cooking areas and cooked all their meals for the weekend over open fire.

On the Saturday afternoon the scouts took part in skills bases including learning about different fire lighting techniques and building shelters.  Most of the Scouts decided to sleep in their shelters on the Saturday night.

The scouts also took part in a range of activities including zip wire and crate stacking, with the scouts trying to break their record for the highest tower since their last camp.  On the Sunday afternoon the Scouts took part in a big water fight to cool down in the 30 degC heat.

On Sunday night the scouts prepared a one pot chicken stew, which was followed by a camp fire.
